Our latest adventure: Deep Sea Fishing! I had never been. Wow, what a trip. Mike told me to pick-up some motion sickness pills from the store. I debated taking them all the way to Portland and even the next day when we headed to Lincoln City.
Beginning first though... My Grandpa's birthday is the 27th and for his birthday he wanted to go deep sea fishing. My first thought was that it would be awesome, but then on second thought I figured I would stay on land and go shopping. However, the thought that everyone else was going fishing, my sister included got me thinking that I didn't want to miss out on the fun. Haha...
We chartered a boat which in all reality sounded fun and somewhat prestigous since most of the other people waiting on the dock were going on big group fishing trips. Mind you this was also at 6:30 in the morning with wind and morning chill.
When we headed out, things were good. A bit bumpy, but alright. However, after two stops to fish, catching the first fish of the day, and staring at the moving ocean, I quickly turned woozy and enjoyed the rest of the trip from my seat on the bench bag in hand just in case. Hehe... Not what I had planned for my first trip, but eh... what can you do.
It was fun to watch Mike fish though. He did a great job! He even caught the biggest fish of the day, which he proudly displayed in one of many photos from the day.
It was also awesome to see him and Dad bond over fishing and beach walking. I love that he and my dad get along so well!
We ended up with about 40 fish of varying types and 8 crabs...yummy! Both of which were wonderful on our table that evening.
All in all, sickness aside, the trip was a blast and being able to seeing Kins, Grandpa and Grandma made it all worth it!
